How to play Lost Planet 2 via Tunngle

General note : Never use ALT+TAB or ALT+ENTER commands or scrool your game's window when you are on a server, either joining or hosting. It will cause all sorts of problems. Do it before joining/creating or play in windowed mode.

Tutorial Steps

  1. Update the game to the latest version (1.1 as of 25.11.2010) via Games For Windows Live or with this file (link): [1]
  2. If you're running the game from a backup copy, use the fixed exe provided with the above mentioned update *after* updating.
  3. Download the latest Teknogod's (18 beta as of 25.11.2010), link : [2] (credits @ resistant). Unpack the files and keep them in one separate folder, don't copy/move them anywhere. They don't have to be in the game's folder.
  4. Run Teknohelper.exe, click "TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 (Tunngle)" on the list in the middle of the window and then click "set adapterkey" below. Wait for it to finish and close the window.
  5. Start Tunngle and join the network you want to play in.
  6. Start DLLload.exe and keep it running in the background. Skip this step if you want to create a game, DLLload is used only when joining.
  7. Run the game. To play a campaign game, go into campaign mode. For PvP modes, go into online mode.
  8. Choose "system link" (LAN) as the connection type.
  9. Press "quick match" to see a list of servers. Press "create game" to host a game and wait for players to join (the guide for creating a game ends here).
  10. When you see a server you want to join, press F12 a few times, until you hear a voice saying "working" and then join. If the voice doesn't sound despite pressing F12 numerous times (sometimes even about 10) it means that Teknogod's DLLload is not working properly and you won't be able to play (see Troubleshooting section).
  11. If you fail to join, press F12 again anywhere until you hear "transfer complete" voice before joining any servers again. Repeat previous step.
  12. Right after joining the server, press F12 again until you hear a voice saying "transfer complete".
  13. You're done, have fun. ;)

Port forwarding (router users only)

The ports to forward are : UDP 11155 and TCP 11443. You should enable upnp in Tunngle system -> options menu too. There are many general guides on how to Port Forward, refer to them.

See this section if you're having problems despite following the guide to the letter.

Connection Problem

You need to connect more than one pc with an enternal cable for system link play

  1. Network
  2. Change Adapter Settings
  3. Disable Local area 2 or 3 wich is of Tunngle adapter if you installed the adapter manually
  4. Or Disable Tunngle adapter. Open game Then enable Tunngle adapter to play with tunngle

No need to do repeatedly.

Making sure if Teknogod's is working properly

  1. Run the game and wait for it to get to the main menu.
  2. Press alt+tab and run DLLload.exe.
  3. If it says "Injection failed, make sure the dll is in the same dir as this program.", there is a problem - see FAQ section.
  4. "Injected to base <funny numbers here>, have fun!" means it's working properly.

  1. Run the game and wait for it to get to the main menu.
  2. Press 'home' key on your keyboard.
  3. A Games for Windows Live window will open, log in and press "settings" on the menu, then "network info".
  4. If the "network adapter" line says "Tunngle (registry override)", then it's working properly.
  5. If it doesn't, quit the game, repeat step 4 from the guide and check again.

Buggy server behavior

Section is being worked on. For now, refer to these posts (link) [3].

  • Q: I'm not seeing any servers, the game just keeps creating one/DLLload is not working! What do I do?

A: Disable your firewall (both windows built-in and any 3rd party ones), restart the game and dllload, try again. If it doesn't work, try disabling your antivirus.

  • Q: Do I have to use Games For Windows Live to play Lost Planet 2 on Tunngle?

A: Yes and no. You have to have an account to play the game, but there is an option to create a local profile which actually works like not having one at all. A guide on how to do this (link) : [4]

  • Q: I'm getting 'xlive.dll missing' error or other GFWL related problems, what do i do?

A: Delete and reinstall the latest version of Games For Windows Live.

  • Q: I'm getting random occasional erros when joining, crashes, people can't join my server etc., why?

A: If this doesn't happen all the time, it may not be your fault. Refer to the "Buggy server behavior" section for info.
