Manual Adapter Install
From Tunngle Wiki
Manual Adapter Install
In certain circumstances (for example when attempting to troubleshooting a failed adapter install) you might need to perform a manual install for the Tunngle Adapter. It's always worth to attempt a manual install if your adapter installation failed because Windows will provide detailed information about the error which can later be used to solve the problem.
How To
To get started there are two different procedures depending on your Operating System:
- Windows Xp:
- Go to Control Panel->Add Hardware
- Choose Yes, I have already connected the hardware
- Scroll down to the bottom
- Choose Add a new hardware device
- Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
- Choose Network Adapters.
- Windows Vista/7:
- Right click on Computer
- Choose Properties
- When the System window comes up select the Device Manager option.
- Click on Computer in the list
- Open the Action menu and then choose Add legacy hardware
- Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
- Choose Network Adapters.
Now if you do see the TAP-Win32 Provider V9 (Tunngle) adapter in the list, select it and hit Next to continue with the install.
If you can't see it, click on Have Disk, Browse to the Driver folder that you can find inside the Tunngle folder (usually in Program Files) and select the driver according to your Operating System Architecture (32bit for x86, 64bit for x64). Then select the TAP-Win32 Provider V9 (Tunngle) adapter in the list and continue with the install.
Adapter Priority
After the installation you might want to check that the Tunngle Network Adapter is properly prioritized. Read more about this in our Adapter Priority section.
