Tunngle Private Networks

The Tunngle Private Networks are the perfect place to host your private games with your friends over the Internet.
The Private Network tab is designed to be the place where all the fun starts.
Using this tab you can:

  • Create your own Private Network for up to 32 players
  • Set your Private Network Password
  • Set your Private Network Welcome Message
  • Configure the Network Emulator
  • Interlink your Public Dedicated Server into your Private Network
  • Join Private Networks made by others
  • Join your own Network

Activation

Before you can use the private network functionality you need to activate it.
Activation is easy and completely free.
To activate just follow the instructions as they appear in the Tunngle Client. Once activated the creation of your private network is totally free

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter the repeating dot issue (e.g. if a bunch of dots tries to take over the Activation page and the CAPTCHA never comes) you can try using a different browser (like for example Opera 12.17).
  • If you are getting login issues and you then get a Private Network Activation error (CAPTCHA doesn't appear at all), please note that you might need to resolve the Tunngle client login issues before you can activate.

Accessing the Private Networks tab

The Private Networks can be accessed by:

  • Selecting the Private Networks option from Community->Networks menu
  • Clicking the Left Sidebar Private Networks Quick Access Button

Sections

The Private Networks tab is organized into two sections:

  • Manage your own Network
  • Join an Existing Network
  • Select the Network Type

Manage your own Network

This section allows you to manage your own network.
Creating or Updating a network is really easy: all you need to do is fill in the options and click the Create - Update button.
Here is a quick overview of the available options:

  • Network Type: Basic or Premium (only Premium users can create a Premium network)
  • Network Name: the name of the network you would like to create.
  • Network Password: the password of the network (can be empty if no password is required)
  • Welcome Message: the message that will be shown to visitors when they join it
  • Network Size: the size of the network
  • Network Range: change this option if you want Tunngle to emulate specific Network Ranges
  • Interlink Server: used this to Interlink your Public Dedicated Server into your network (to enable this option tick Settings->Options->Show Advanced Options)

The usage of the two buttons is very straightforward:

  • Use the Create - Update button to create or update your network. Please note that, when updating, you'll need to rejoin the network before you can see the changes.
  • Use the Join your Network (disabled when the network doesn't exist) button to join your own Network after you've created it.

Join an existing Network

Joining a network is a piece of cake.
All you need to do is to fill the required options and hit Join.
Here is a quick overview of the available options:

  • Network Type: Basic unless your friend told you otherwise
  • Network Name: the name of the network you would like to join.
  • Network Password: the password of the network (can be empty if no password is required)

Select the Network Type

If you're a Premium member this panel allows you to select which network you would like to create:

  • Basic Network: when this is selected the Manage your own Network section will show up your Basic Network management interface
  • Premium Network: when this is selected the Manage your own Network section will show up your Premium Network management interface

Lifetime and Premium members are allowed to have both the Basic Network and the Premium Network at the same time.

Notes

  • Please note that private networks are deleted after three days of inactivity.
