Tunngle Adapter Priority

The Tunngle Adapter Priority is very important when it comes to LAN playing with Tunngle.
In order for your games to correctly recognize Tunngle as the main adapter for your LAN games[1], the Tunngle adapter must be correctly placed on top of the Windows Network Adapter Priority List.
When you install Tunngle, the Tunngle setup puts the Tunngle Adapter on top of the Windows Network Adapter Priority List so chances are that you won't have to worry about doing this manually. Anyway, on certain occasions, like the installation of other network related software, the Tunngle adapter can be moved down in the list causing problems when you are scouting for games.

Adapter Priority List
How it should look

Setting the priority for the Tunngle adapter is pretty easy.
The first steps depends on your Operating System:

  • Windows Xp:
    • Open the Control Panel
    • Open Network Connections
    • From the Advanced menu choose Advanced Settings
  • Windows Vista/Seven:
    • Open Network and Sharing Center
    • Choose Change adapter settings
    • Hit ALT on your keybouard to show the menus
    • From the Advanced menu choose Advanced Settings

Select Tunngle from the Connections list in the Adapters and Bindings tab. Use the green arrow on the right to move Tunngle on top of the Windows Network Adapter Priority List. Click 'OK' to apply the new settings and you are done!

  1. Note that Games for Windows require a special adapter override in order to work.
