Connection Tips - Portforwarding
Are you having problems connecting to (or seeing) other Tunnglers in a Tunngle network? Don’t panic this is the right place to be.
Usually you don’t need any special setting to run Tunngle. If you encounter problems we have some useful tips that will help you resolve all the possible issues and achieve the perfect Tunngle experience:
(Arcor / Vodafone Easy Box Router - see below)
Issue 1: If you can’t connect to the Tunngle servers your firewall is probably blocking the Tunngle connection over the internet. In this case we recommend that you check your firewall settings (would that be Windows firewall or any other third party firewall software installed on your system).
Issue 2: If you can only see a few or no Tunnglers in a Tunngle network while you know (by reading the online user counter of the net) that there should be more, your router is probably blocking some of the connections to the other Tunnglers. This might happen with some router architectures that, in order to work, require some additional configuration such as port forwarding or port triggering.
You can easily correct this issue by changing some settings in your router options. There are two ways to get the job done. You can either search for detailed information about port forwarding or port triggering in your routers manual or take a look at the existing Tunngle guides on Portforward.com.

Note: We highly recommend to use port forwarding instead of port triggering because some router models seem to have an internal problem with the port triggering method. If this is the case the port triggering method will not work!

"Ok I got it. Now, what are the settings!?"
Port Forwarding
Local IP: Your PC IP (not Tunngle)
LAN Port: 11155
Public Port: 11155
Protocol Type UDP
or
Port Triggering
Trigger Port: 11443
Protocol Typ TCP
Public Port: 11155
Protocol Type UDP
Still having problems? Disabling SPI and Anti-DoS firewall protection might do the trick. Look in your router security settings (usually in intrusion detection) and try disabling it.
Important note about Arcor / Vodafone Easy Box Router (similarly models can be affected too): the internal firewall of these specific models blocks the Tunngle connection buildup when a single Port Forwarding is set.
To fix this you need to deactivate the integrated SPI and Anti-DoS firewall protection.
A firmware update 'can' resolve this issue.
Due to internal router problems a port triggering will not work!
