Hello, and Welcome :).

Your solution is below! Reading carefully this post will save your time! Brainless posting is always the longer way!

Note: Community Help and Support is not a Game Troubleshooting thread. Please post game problems in the Tunngle Games forum.

No support via email or pm. Please use this forum for support requests.

If you think that you found a bug or you are just having a problem using Tunngle this is the right place where to start.
Before going on reporting your issue, please take a moment to read the official Tunngle Support pages and check if the solution to your problem is listed there. Also check this. In particular, if you are getting an error message be sure that you check our Error Messages troubleshooting guide.
Also the FAQ are an excellent way to get started.

If you feel that your problem is different or you can't find your way in our support, don't panic. The Tunngle Community is here to help :D .
For your convenience, we report here the known solutions to the most common issues.

Before posting, please take a moment to verify that the solution to your problem is not listed below. You might also want to verify that your problem has not already been solved, by reading the related topics that have the "[Solved]" tag in the title.

Please read our support and use the search button before you post.

When posting please try to post one issue per thread. When your problem is solved, it's a great thing to report it back on the forum by posting "solved" (and how you solved it) in the matching thread. Someone from the team will then add the [Solved] tag and close your post to ease the troubleshooting process for the other Community members. This will help us keeping the forum clean.

Help us helping you:
• Adopt a meaningful title for your posts! (Avoid titles like "HeeeeeelP" or "Errrrrror!!!").
• Provide info about:
• Your operating system
• Everything that might be interfering (like your security related softwares (antivirus, firewall), your network related softwares)

• Describe the exact steps that lead to the problem.
• If you can try to include additional troubleshooting info.

Quick tips:
• Port Forward info can be found at point f.
• Tunngle->System->Options->UPnP is the one click automatic port forward solution.
• The Troubleshooter can help you.

Troubleshooting guide:
• Download Tunngle
• Can't download? Use a mirror.
• Are you sure that you've got the latest version? Check here before continuing!

• Install Tunngle
• Run as Administrator (running as administration is required only for the setup phase!)
• Click yes to the Windows Logo dialog if it comes up (Xp doesn't support the newer Tunngle certificates, no logo problems under Vista or Windows 7)
• There should be no other errors during installation using the new installer
• Be sure that no security software is preventing Tunngle from installing correctly for example blocking the installation of the new adapter.
• If in device manager you get "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." you can try the following: create a system restore point, uninstall Tunngle, reboot, delete c:\windows\system32\DRIVERS\tap0901t.sys, install Tunngle again. Read more here.
• The adapter installer (helper.exe/tapinstall.exe) might require outbound network access (to access the adapter) in order to install successfully! Please be sure that your firewall is not blocking them or the adapter installation might hang/fail!
• Be sure that your windows system is up to date (all available updates have been applied). Also check that your system drivers are up to date (this is very important would you get a blue screen).
• Note: under certain circumstances a Tunngle Uninstall is required in order to be able to perform the update. If you are not sure: Uninstall, Reboot, Install, Reboot! Reboots are very important.
• Adapter installation might fail if you have a broken cfos speed software installation on your machine.
• After the installation is complete you need to restart before you can use Tunngle!
• Can't find the adapter or the service on Tunngle startup? Your system is being stubborn? You can try the Community Troubleshooter.
• The adapter selection on startup comes up when the Tunngle network adapter is not found or if the communication with the adapter failed. If the Tunngle adapter is in the list and it is properly selected and the adapter selection reappears it is because there is a problem accessing the adapter. The common cause for this are firewall issues. Please note that disabling a firewall doesn't always disable the firewall completely.
• On certain systems ESET security software can corrupt windows settings to the point where installation of any new network adapter (Tunngle included!) fails because of "Insufficient System Resources". Read more about this here.
• For any kind of installation trouble be sure that you try the full magic cycle: Uninstall, Reboot, Install, Reboot. Reboots are not optional!

• Sign up for a free account on the Tunngle Website here
• Use alphanumeric username and passwords (a-z, 0-9), try to avoid weird characters since they will probably prevent you from logging in.
• Be sure you don't have CAPS turned on.
• Use a real email. It's important that you use a valid email because otherwise you won't be able to validate your account.
• Read more about our password here.

• Configure Tunngle in your local firewalls
• The allow rules to add are two: one for the client interface "Tunngle.exe" the other for the Tunngle service "Tnglctrl.exe".
• You might have more than one firewall (usually Windows Firewall + Third party firewall). Be sure you configure all of them.
• You might have other security software that is preventing Tunngle to access some of the resources required.
• Sometimes a broken security software uninstallation (like for example the firewall) can prevent Tunngle from working correctly.
• When you update Tunngle, many firewalls will require you to set new rules for the new executables.
• For Kaspersky Tunngle must be added to the trustworthy programs too.

• Start Tunngle and Login
• Use your password to login. If you forgot your user password, you can reset it by going here.
• Not validated? You didn't receive the validation email? Request a new one. Check your spam mail filters!
• Tunngle.exe does not need to be run as Administrator! You can run it without UAC elevation!
• Check that you have respected the login checklist (did you use only alphanumeric?, did you have CAPS off?)
• Check that your firewall is properly configured (did you remember windows firewall?)
• Getting issues on connection but before was working? Close Tunngle, Open the command prompt as admin(Start->Run->Cmd), type "net stop tunngleservice" and press enter, type "net start tunngleservice" and press enter, close the command prompt and restart tunngle. Too difficult? Use (right click and run as administrator). Still sounds too difficult? Restart your pc.
• Still can't login? Report here.
• Stuck on finalizing? Getting a scary message? Can't login while you were able to do it before? Do the net stop/start trick as suggested before or use the or restart your PC and try again. Still doesn't work? Have you set the port forwarding?
• Does Tunngle take more than 30 seconds to complete the whole login process? Normal login times may vary from 15-30 seconds. If they don't you probably need to set Port Forwarding in your router.
• Can't login? Are you sure that there is no server maintenance going on? If there is a scheduled maintenance it will be announced here. If you are logged in and there is a scheduled server maintenance all active tunnels will remain in place. If you disconnect/change network you will have to wait the end of the maintenance before being able to login again.
• Getting a Blue Screen of Death? You have some obsolete driver in your system that is causing some trouble. You can try to pinpoint the driver by looking at the blue screen info. You then need to update the faulty driver. If you are not sure of what driver is causing the problem, do a general driver update beginning with your motherboard drivers, you network card drivers, etc..
• Please note that, if you use PeerBlock you might need to configure or stop it in order to start Tunngle.
• If you use Norton Internet Security and you get stuck on Starting the Adapter you might need to switch the Tunngle network from protected to trusted in the firewall options (network whose gateway is 7.254.254.254 or IP: 7.0.0.0 Mask: 255.0.0.0).
• If you use ESET and you are stuck on starting the adapter try using Learning Mode. If this fails try to create a network zone for Tunngle IP: 7.0.0.0 Mask: 255.0.0.0 Gateway: 7.254.254.254 and allow dhcp traffic over it. If this fails you can try allowing all traffic over the new network zone. If this fail you can try to disable (uncheck) the ESET network filter from the Tunngle adapter properties (be aware this will disable the firewall for all connections over the Tunngle virtual LAN). To do this go to network connections, right click over the tunngle adapter, click properties and uncheck the ESET filter.
• If you use PC Tools Firewall and you are stuck on starting the adapter or checking broadcasts you can try to disable (uncheck) the PCTools network filter from the Tunngle adapter properties (be aware this will disable the firewall for all connections over the Tunngle virtual LAN). To do this go to network connections, right click over the tunngle adapter, click properties and uncheck the PC Tools filter.
• If you uninstalled all the Firewall software and it is still stuck on Starting the Adapter then you might want to try to reset your IP settings. Be careful: if you do this and your adapters need special settings you will have to manually set everything again. If you are not sure, you shouldn't run this.

• Join a network
• If you can't see the right amount of players in the network you need to port forward the Tunngle port in your router. There are two ways to do this. Upnp automatic port forward (easy) and manual router port forward.
• To use Upnp go to Tunngle->System->Options-> Check upnp->Click ok->Restart. If you get the UPnP error then you have to do a manual port forward. In this case, don't forget to turn Upnp off again: Tunngle->System->Options-> Uncheck upnp->Click ok->Restart .
• If you don't know how to do the port forwarding, check this thread to find out. You can find specific guides for almost every router model on the portforward.com website: more info here. If you can't find your router there read point a) of this page and then use the same forum to ask for support.
• This tool can help you setting up the port forward in your router.
• To test your port forward use Tunngle->System->Options->Test. PF Checker won't work since the port is used by Tunngle.
• Check our general Connection Support page.
• Some router need configuration beyond the port forwarding setting (SPI and Anti-DoS firewall protection). Check that your router security settings match what is written on our Connection Support page.
• If you have a Belkin router read here.
• If you are using a Zyxel Router (especially prestige models) or in general if you have a successful port forward (Tunngle->System->Options->Test successful) and you do not see anyone when joining networks then please disable the port forward (both in the router and in Tunngle) and uncheck upnp under (Tunngle->System->Options). If finalizing seems stuck you can hit cancel to login anyway. This way you should at least see some peers. We are currently waiting a router model to troubleshoot this.
• Do not use port 11156 when port forwarding. That specific port will not work properly with the current release (remember this when you configure you 2nd PC). You can choose any valid port up to 65535. It is recommended that you avoid ports below 1024 that are usually reserved for other purposes. Also ensure that the selected port is not already in use.
• If you are running Tunngle from a Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing client, you might need to set up a port forward on the ICS Server (if you are using ICS and you can't browse the internet while Tunngle is running you need to do this). Read how to here.
• If you are running Tunngle from a Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing server and your clients can't browse the internet you need to manually set the DNS for each client. You can use Open DNS (Primary: 208.67.222.222 Alternative: 208.67.220.220). Read more here.
• If you are behind two routers you need to forward traffic from the first one to the second one and then from the second one to your PC. More info here. An alternative is to put your second router in the first router DMZ so that all traffic is forwarded to the second router. Then you can forward from the second router to your PC as you would do if you had only one router. More info here.
• If you want to connect to Tunngle with more than one PC connected to the same router, it is recommended that you port forward a different port for each PC. So for example forward port 11155 to the first PC and port 11160 to the second and adjust the Tunngle->System->Options->Port settings accordingly. If you did it correctly both Tunngle->System->Option-Test should be successful.
• Always remember to apply the Tunngle settings before you restart Tunngle.
• If you plan to use UPnP please download the latest version.
• If you use UPnP on a certain port be sure that there is not already a port forward rule for the same port in your router.
• If you use UPnP: a) check that the UPnP host service is running. Check that the SSDP discovery service is running c) check that your firewall allows svchost to make outbound connections. You can use the Community troubleshooter to fix this.
• If you are using the router Thomson TG784 and after some time all peers go NA and disappear, there might be an issue with port triggering. Try using port forwarding instead.
• If you are using the router Trendnet TEW-432BRP there might be an issue with ip lease time. It seems that the router doesn't recognize Tunngle network activity correctly and the lease expires. Masakary verified that setting a veeery long lease time (like 1week) solves the disconnection problem (more here).
• Still no clue about how to port forward? You can use the Community Troubleshooter to receive assistance. Just follow the tips :).
• Your college firewall is giving you headaches? Talking with the IT guys is a nightmare? Try using UDP port 17771.
• You forwarded the port, it worked for a while and now it's not working anymore? Please check that you are using a static local IP and not a dynamic one. If your local IP changes the port forward is not effective anymore.

• If you can't see/join/host a game
• Check that your adapter is the first in the priority list (read more here).
• Do you see and can chat with the people on the network? Are their ping numbers and not (N/A)? If not you'd better check again firewall and port forwarding configuration.
• You get some connection interruptions? Open the command prompt, type ipconfig /all and check the properties of your internet adapter. If the problems occur when the lease expires you need to configure the dhcp server in order to have a longer lease time.
• People are dropped from your server from time to time? You loose connection and you do not know why? Go to Windows->start->run-> type in eventvwr.msc and press enter.
On the left pane expand Windows Logs and right click on application log. Search for errors related to Tunngle and non. It might be that some other service (like WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery) is creating problems to Tunngle. More info here.
• Are your firewalls (windows and third party) configured to allow incoming and outgoing connections for your games? What are the rules that your firewall applies by default to the Tunngle network adapter?
• Remember that Tunngle must be started before you start the game.
• Some Games for Windows have a ping restrictions. Is this your case?
• Do you have the same game version of the others? Sometimes updates are not the same. Be mindful of what you apply to your game and about the sequence :) (result of wrong update sequence can be very bad as shown here).
• Your preferred game is not working? You can use this with a friend to verify if the TCP/UDP tunnel is working fine.

Need help on port forwarding? Check Portforward.com for great portforward guides!

Everything else fails? You can try this unofficial beta Community Troubleshooter (handle with care).

We hope that this helps :D, if you feel that any known issue was left out please reply to this topic :).

Old Troubles (4.3.0.2 and before)
• Install Tunngle
• If you can't still install the adapter. Open the helper.txt file you find in the [Tunngle Main Folder]driver . If you find the "==> tapinstall.exe failed. <==" standing there read this post by SSolingen (will be fixed in the next release).
• Adapter installation on Tunngle version 4.3.0.2 and previous might fail on certain systems (because c:programs path was not found) if you disabled Short File Names Generation. Check here for a solution.

You can try this: Manual_Adapter_Install

BTW, Tunngle is in Beta-Stage and there can be some problems!
