Fercon 0.3 beta2 by Ferocious

This is a tool you can use for unattended administration on
your server. It has a commandline interface the same as in the
dedicated server application.

Tested on my server with 16 players and the status bug is gone for good!
Also fixed the frequent FeRcon disconnection problems when server got busy.

How to use

1 ) Copy the exe into your crysis2 folder.
2 ) Edit your server.cfg so that it has the line

http_startserver port:123

change 123 to whatever port you want. I would suggest one below 1024 so
its less prone to attack through vpn (tunngle blocks under 1024). There
is currently NO WAY OF SETTING A PASSWORD FOR THE HTTP INTERFACE! so block
this port from outside access with a firewall.
3 ) Edit your system.cfg and change the lines or add them if they're not there:

log_verbosity = 1 (change this to 0 for less spam in server console)
log_WriteToFile = 1
log_WriteToFile_Verbosity = 3

REMOVE ANY OTHER LOG SETTINGS IN YOUR CONFIG!

4 ) put your local ip address into the box for server IP (whichever IP the server is bound to)
5 ) Enter the port you chose for "http_startserver" in to the port box
6 ) Add at least one map in the format "Wars\cw2_rooftop_gardens" gametype "InstantAction"
7 ) Click save on the settings tab.
8 ) Delete all server log files
9 ) If using FeRcon to start your server, just click connect.
If using server.bat to start your server, start server then click connect.

If all goes well you should see some info about the game in progress in the console window.

I also strongly suggest setting sv_cheatprotection to atleast 1 on your server so people cannot
join with modified game files.

Hey, thanks, great tool.

Im using it since yesterday, after some dumb misstakes from my side (overlooking a "0"), it
seems todo its job very well :) ...

Only "issues" i had, for the info,s, after a while the rcon stopped logging, needed restart.
But after restart it connects and disconnects in 1 sec untill i restart the gameserver.(Maybe server side problem)
On Restart of game server it COULD crash here, but worked as usual afterwards.

I didnt have lobby wait time on, but it seemed to randomly wait really long in the lobby or crash/stuck in lobby, so haha i read in the chatlog, host you are a retard haha its dedi, how do they know xD... Dont know if program related, but putting down anyways...

I set it on high priority, set level wait time to 10 seconds, and its still logging afetr few hours for now :)
Maybe my curse hit me again earlier ;)
Running only 1 map btw.

Im eating so cant type to much, new infos ill update ^^.

Uhum idea(,s)for the future from my side which would be greatly appreciated:

Ping kick, manual set for extreme pinged mofo,s from china whatever :) ping 500 and up...

Maybe a antichild block for the numpad buttons to avoid cheating.

Is it possible IF it crashes for whatever reason, that it wont show an special error msg?
So i can automaticly let it restart.

Also "nice" would be an little thingy for auto connect at startup.

Then "i" could just run it on a service level kinda thing ^^

I forgot something, will post it later :)

If you are having problems with the devbinds still working after using fercon, and you dont see kills and chat in fercon. This could be why. Its in system.cfg.

log_WriteToFile = 1
log_WriteToFileVerbosity -1

make it

log_WriteToFileVerbosity = 1

and restart server. Enjoy!

Im back with some general news, server did a new trick it never did before when using fercon
After a while it just stopped in the lobby, till people left and joined and left etc.
The funny thing is, it kept doing that, even with gl_skip = 1 as last line in cfg...


Ok so be it, i took fercon off, but amazingly enough the problem persisted.
I erased all logs etc, same stuff, problem persisted... so i decided to change all the logs off to 0
see what that would do. now its up again few hours, but it wont load my levelrotation LOL, yes its a proper one.
but forget it for now, its up again at least.

So for now i took fercon off, how much it sucks, i maybe have a pointer in the right direction for the main
problem...

As i just decided todo a checkdisk run for monthly checkup i saw it had errors, ok np... fix on reboot, load win
ran checkdisk again, no errors, ofcs, cool!
Started server up with all logging enabled, let it load, closed it down, then i decided to run
a checkdisk after server startup, i was curious, guess what, ERRORS FOUND?

WTF is crysis dedi creating errors on my hdd, in log it said bout writing a textfile 600 lines etc.
I tested this 2 times, could somebody else check this too, i use Win XP x64.
Maybe this explains the weird random crashes and server.cfg load errors too?
when theres virtual memory unreadable on harddisk???

I also ran gameserver on another Xtreme admin account like ferocious explained, server loaded a whole set of different info than ive ever seen?!??!
Also wanted to phone home like E.T but kept pending and timed out ofcs., but after boot i couldnt get in my main account, so i gotta figure that out first.
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \Winlogon \SpecialAccounts \UserList Administrator Dword value 1 ;))
Howto change admin account priority for bootup, so i just use the Xtreme account from main admin acc for server login ie: run it under Xtreme user while in Admin.
Then i can run server in a total different way, looked like it was working how its supposed to work, cant explain but log was strange... 50% less errors for sure.

Just a mindspin and it ended up there again, probably forgot some details.
I,m maybe thinking this are the core problems, that maybe prevent fercon from operating properly and stable..
So i just put eme down :D
If you think im nuts, thats cool too, you may be right ;)

I decided to install Fercon again, because some noobies joined again..., and ruined it for others.

But after using Fercon, it stayed stuck at the lobby, after random number of rounds again.. but i love the prog,...

Are you using skip to move lobbies?

Maybe you already did, but if not, you could use the gl_startgame command? So no skip cvar is touched not even in serverfile.

B.t.w Fercon changes skip, if i like it or not :D, its ok if it do, if it actually keeps hanging in there ^^

Let people standard join lobby after game like nothing is touched, and let Fercon execute the sv_sendtoconsole gl_startgame command to start the game after a certain amount of "settable" time after the normal round ends like now.

If im too late with this, forget it, just putting it down before i forget it just noticed that only thing helping on lobbystuck (when i was here), was typing gl_startgame, then it would start fine, dont know bout next map, didnt want to wait 45 mins for an normal rotation, but if fixed in Fercon, would solve alot, maybe run after the skip cvar for backup if not already.

Im working on 0.2 as I type.. Its got some of the stuff I wanted to add.

* Multikill broadcast to everyone
* First Blood broadcast to everyone
* Map rotation within FeRcon (in testing) doesnt use levelrotation.xml or gl_skip anymore. Now using direct cvars to set map / gametype / lobby picture map and gametype. Its much more stable! This enables random map rotation and also if the server crashes the rotation keeps going where it left off! Bonus!! :)
* Added a few settings you can control through FeRcon such as: g_timelimit,g_scorelimit,killcam,spectate follow cam, Time between spawns and Initial spawn time
* Added a optional bind that sets F9 to pp_unlockall. This is so everyone is on a level playing field!
* Working on multiple messages
* Working on high ping kick
* Working on bad nick characters kick
* Added an option to kick people when they first use the HMG mounted guns. It works mostly but sometimes not..

Looks sick :D many nice options, and new features!

Cant wait to test it, however for "me" only anti Dev binds and pingkick are really interesting!

Here i go again with my insane ideas again, to mess your timeplan up xD

When people get their *ss pingkicked, would it be possible to warn them a few seconds before
their end of game, or let them know why they get kicked?

Otherwise they,ll keep rejoining, which makes no sense to server and players ^^

Hey, lobby still stays stuck here, if it reach the lobby, and game crashes after approx. 45 min kicking clients sending msg to them "noobs detroyed"

I didnt get the map rotation going, if i took my startupmap out startshortcut, server boots with nomap, if theres a map the server boots on that with selected settings from prog ie. kills + timelimit.

Rest works fine, autosay, unlock, devmode, multikil etc. real nice!

But again took it off for now, after 4 clientdumps and 3 lobbystops, since it would take the server offline and never come back anymore, ie: looked like it hung in status, every 1 second a map msg, i can send you the logs from yesterday if youre interested.

The map thing could be a setting here? And therefore if map nowork map noload?

I have now added a link to 0.2. I think I pulled it because of a bug, cant remember now lol.

I dont understand the question "Why its so ferocious".

Also added a fixed 0.3 beta2 for those suffering from the connect button click crash. Thanks to EmBoLa for testing!

so we can all join as tunngle members - maybe create some kind of crysis2 tunngle 'clan/s'? (free of hackers hopefully)

okay guys i have the official steam release of crysis 2 and i want to host a server through tunngle i dont want to use online servers. How do i do this because i have server.cfg file levelrotation.xml and serverlauncher.bat in there and everything but it just does not work.

I tried connecting locally with my local lan ip and fail and also tried using tunngle virtual ip and i got the same and so did my friend. Ports all open so wtf?

I was looking at the files i have inside my folder and i dont see any dedicated server files in bin32 or root folder so could this be the problem? Has a online patch i downloaded maybe taken them away or has this nothing to do with it and im just a noob? I mean i just cant get it working
