[Solved] TAPWin32 adapter driver failure error instaling Tunngle network adapter on Win7 64 bit Rate Topic: -----

I have a problem instaling Tunngle network adapter. The SETUP program finishes and ŽI restart computer, but adapter is not found by Tunngle. When I go to network adapter, the adapter is not listed but if I go to Hardware devices I see the adapter liste as
TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 (Tunngle) - with and error saying:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

What to do?
Reinstall doesn't help, antivirus is off, restart doesnt help...reading forum doesn't help...
It's a Win7 64bit english, fresh install

tried all - also Tunngle Community Troubleshooter v0.8 from the sticker - didnt help. Stil Code52 error - problem with certificate.

  • Create a system restore point just in case
  • Go to the [Tunngle Folder]\Driver\**bit\, right click on tap0901t.cat and select properties
  • Go to Digital Signatures, click on Tunngle.net GmbH and click Details
  • In the Digital Signature Details click View Certificate
  • In the Certificate Dialog click Install Certificate
  • Uninstall Tunngle
  • Reboot and check that the [Tunngle Folder] is completely gone
  • Install Tunngle
  • Reboot

If by installing the certificate manually Windows can't still verify the signature it means that your windows installation has some big problem ;).
I suggest that you try to scan for viruses, clean up, ask your system administrator about the certificates or reinstall windows.

Problem solved.
I manually deleted all drivers of TAPI network adapter. Then I run Tool TBFI from sticker above... and adapter was successfuly instaled without errors.

Hi :). You can try to open go to Start->Run and type services.msc.
Then search for the Cryptographic Services and check that the service is started.
If it's not started, right click and select start.
Then you can attempt the Manual_Adapter_Install again and, if it fails, post here the exact error that you get :).

Hi :). Please go to Start->Run, type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
In the left pane of the window that opens up select Windows Log and then Security.
Now scroll the right pane to search for any Tunngle related error/message occurring at the time of or after the installation.
If you find any please post the message or a screenshot of it here :).

I also have the same problem as the OP.
Installation goes fine but I get error (4-109): Could not initialize Tunngle network adapter.
Then when I check adapters in Device Manager I get the same thing from the OP's thumbnail:

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device.
A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

Cryptographic Services are running.

Manual Adapter Install does nothing but ads another adapter with #2 suffix: (also dysfunctional with the same code 52) or if I manually uninstall/remove driver/adapter and then try manual adapter install it ads default adapter TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 (Tunngle)(also not working with same old code 52)

I also applied that certificate fix from Tunggle/Drivers/ folder (I installed certificate) and still nothing.

There are no security errors i use microsoft security essentials. The problem is in the driver for 32bit it's ok but 64bit then the error appears. Maybe you can give me the TAP-Win32 Adapter V9 for 32bit then maybe it will work

Can I ask if you know for sure that it works for 32bit? Did you test on another operating system?

About the security it's not Microsoft Essential log. But windows event log.
To verify
  • Please go to Start->Run, type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
  • In the left pane of the window that opens up select Windows Log and then Security.
  • Now scroll the right pane to search for any Tunngle related error/message occurring at the time of or after the installation.
  • If you find any (should have System Integrity as task category) please post the message or a screenshot of it here ;).


You can also check this alternative package and see if it works: http://downloads.tun...p_v4.3.2.4b.exe ;).
If it fails don't forget to check the Windows Event Log as I described ;).

Sorry, you posted this while I was writing and I didn't see it.
Anyway I've been installing/restarting/uninstalling/restarting this for last 2 hours so I'm quite weary by now.

Try the "System Integrity" ones and search for any mention of tap0901t.sys.

It works know just download the new Tunngle_Setup_v4.3.2.4e.exe and it will work. FINALLY I can play!!!!
